Do I need to be a native English speaker?

No – while most countries do prefer to hire native English speakers, there are some that will hire applicants regardless of nationality.

Do I need a bachelor’s degree?

Yes, almost every country hiring teachers will require them to have at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Can I teach with a criminal record?

Yes, most countries will disqualify you if they find out you have any kind of criminal record.

Do I need a TEFL or other teaching certificate?

No, having a TEFL is not mandatory but can help you land better-paying jobs.

Do I need any teaching experience?

No, it’s perfectly fine to have no teaching experience and most schools will offer some form of training.
